Exclamation Box bust?

Hi,

Just been out for a couple of hours, and got home to my box stating '--Illegal--' across the front display of it.

I have a Fortec Star Passion HD.

The box was working fine a few hours ago. I unplugged the box whilst i was out, so nothing could of happened to it in the mean time.

Came home just now, plugged it back in and the box wouldn't turn on via the remote. I unplugged it again, and this time it responded. Now the box is truned on but no channels display, and the front display, where the channel name is displayed, just shows the '--Illegal--'

Anyone else experienced this? Or is there something i'm missing?

My box was bought from Maplin, so i doubt its a fake, or as the message says 'Illegal'.

Thanks

RamsFan

It has BETA Firmware installed, but it was supplied directly from Fortec Star.

UPDATE: Box seems to be working again now, after another reset at the plug. Left it turned off again for 20mins or so, plugged back in and the box seems to be running fine.

Whew that's a relief, it was reminding me of the Dreambox clone fiasco.

Was the first thing that came to mind with me.

I had put BETA firmware on my box, which hasn't officially been launched by Fortec, and wondered whether this was the problem.

Appears it was just a malfunction, and all it needed was a hard reset.

Strange how the box has a setting for it to display, 'Illegal' when required

HI Rams,
All beta software is in the process of being tested and is not the finished item. It is using the public for testing the software and, not being the finished article, it can have problems. Why I am telling you this is the it might well be the beat software that is having a moment, as it were.

Very best regards Wez
