Read thru the posts on the forum and download the Bigmaq toolbar. They both explain what you need to do. The Laky pro image is brilliant (well done boys) and is dealing with everything and the picture quality is great! You can either use a ftp client or download the image flashing assistant to flash the box. If your going to use a ftp client you can back up your service/bouquets and then add them back to the new image so all the channels are in the same order again. If not do a fresh scan laky pro has a good scan service. Good luck it's all fun

I had exactly the same problem so I decided to get a new image - eventually going for CableFerret 1.6
I had Sportster (same as you) so did mine this way: 1. FTP to your dbox and make sure you copy off the following folders as you need to put them back later (keys, zapit) 2. Use your web browser to get get at the Sportster http settings -- this is your DBOX (use http to connect) ip address of course. 3. Select tools and then Image, browse to your cableferret image and then select Flash without Bootloader. Now this can take anything between 5 / 20 minutes so just let it do its thing - it will restart the DBOX when done with the CableFerret image. 4. Now - you will have no channels etc and some of the default setting will be wrong too. So, navigate the new menus (all English which is cool) and set your location, Enable ROM7 and ROM10, set to EVO and 001A which will stop the channels freezing later! 5. Set the IP address to how it was originally and FTP to the box and replace the keys and zapit folders you copied ealier. 6. Disconnect and POWEROFF the DBOX completely - not remote control, physically remove power. Restart after a minute. 7. Now I found that the /var/keys/Keylist.txt had already changed so I could not view anything - just set as per latest keys from BIGMAQ toolbar and test your channels! 8. Got mine working fine following the above and have now uploaded the Magicfiles and AU fixes so hopefully - no more manual changes the keys file! A quick note - Ensure that you do set the EVOCMD to 001a otherwise your channels freeze after a few seconds when first coming on. I find this image excellent - glad I updated as I have been using Sportster/Neutrino since I purchased the box almost 3 years ago!!!! Good luck - just make sure you copy out your folders FIRST !!! |

Hi rburns50,
I'm a newbie to this, so sorry if any of this is noddy.. Your guide seems excellent, however, never having upgraded the image on my dbox2, i'm a little nervous (..if it ain't broke, don't fix it..) I have a couple of questions.. - can i ask why you chose the CableFerret 1.6 image? (for example, why not: SS_Enigma?) - "set your location" ..i've not seen where to set this in my current menu - is it obvious upon install/in new menus? - "Ensure that you do set the EVOCMD to 001a" - same question really Thanks very much, hope you (or someone) can assist.. )nallywag |

cant explain why he chose cableferret but ss enigma takes a bit more to get going set you location. all new images have this feature to scan much quicker than before (fast scan after you set your location only takes 5-6 min max) as for the next part i think he means select (emu) or camd= Evocamd and select Ucode 001A. if i were you and your just wanting to get your box up and running ftp the rom files in to the box select evocamd reboot box and if you havent disabled evocamd auto update you should be up and running. cheers johny48 |

Thanks very much Johny48
I sussed fixing my keys every time Vergin try to thwart free stuff, so think i can flash my image.. just didn't want to get so far and have broken a working system! ![]() I'm currently running a 2002 Sportster image! ..as I say, it's working fine.. ..would you recommend upgrading? ..i'm guessing it gives more features, better picture quality etc? ..i don't (currently) have my dbox online - i could easily sort this out - does that have any benefits? Again, sorry if any of this is noddy - much appreciate any/all response.. Cheers, nallywag |

if its not broke dont fix it so they say if you can FTP to your box you should be ok just download the new rom files and transfer them to the keys folder overwrite the ones that are there reboot the box and that should be you no more manually inserting the keys box will auto update but if you do decide to update img then remember to take a copy of your service and bouquetts via FTP located var/tuxbox/config/zapit this will save lots of time fixing them back out again. the newest img with the auto update fix applied would be the Laky pro you will also need to find out if your box is 1x chip or a 2x chip flashing the wrong one can lead to kien system this is not a big probleme but can be for a nooby so do some reading first if you havent flashed a box before. cheers johny48 |
