tried to upgrade keys via remote & now dbox will not respond to remote ,replaced batts no joy can anyone help.

Will need more information than that. Can you see the red light blink when you press any button on remote then probably its fine.

Is the box still functioning/booting up?

sorry the box boots fine can change channels manually,rx fta channels
could i have upset settings in tux box menu

If the box is fine then its your remote becuase i dont think that there are any settings in the box that would make remote not work.

Best solution is to borrow someone's remote and check it that way.

@jadugar agree mate, sorry ppl but i had used my remote heavly and it went dead, Sorry but your need a new remote, I also use to bend the remote from side to side that somtimes helped but i gave up lol got a new one lol.....
