The freesat receivers are echostar receivers that are just rebranded by Grundig and bush and goodmans.

Ahh, that puts a different perspective on it. Is it Echostar that own the Grundig brand now? I know they got bought/sold and scattered to the four winds a while back...?

Default Tuning freesat in with post code

I note on this site, pictures of the set up on the grundig and its epg state
post code.

Does this mean you MUST put your post code in to set it up.

For example in Wrexham County we have three sorting offices, which in effect bring in three BBC/ITV regions.

LL Wrexham (HTV Wales)
CH Chester (Granada)
SHShrewsbury (Central)

So in effect, if you can not do a manual tune in?, you will not get the region you live in. is there a manual tune?

This must also effect other areas, does this also mean I can only get one region on freesat boxes, as opposed to the lot on my comag.

I realise the epg is a key seller, but it appears restrictive.

Any comments from those who know. I am only rambling on because of the
photos on this site I have seen. Dodgiboxes restrictions come to mind, on my freeview tuner(sony 711) it brings in the lot on auto scan, no post code on the freeview of course.

Well, there are one or two boxes in the wild now, but I doubt if the EPG lineup is complete yet. Doubt it very much.

The postcode is obviously for regionalisation, but you can put whatever you like in there, I'm sure. One would hope (and expect) to be able to change it at will, too.

There is nothing to be gained by Freesat in operating restrictive firmware like the dreaded Sky.

Hope so, but postcodes, to those not in the know like us,are confusing if you are in three reception areas like Wrexham,Granada,Central & Wales.

The majority in Wrexham do not want Welsh TV.
