Keyboard typematic rate must have been set to high.

thanks i think i got it now. im down to 2 boxes topfield tf7700hsci and the arion af8000 hdci, according to the reviews the topfield would not lock on to a signal below 2ms/sec where as the arion would manage a 1ms/sec. would i be right in thinkin the arion will pick up weaker/lower signals (1ms/sec) better than the topfield (2ms/sec).

Sounds like it. If the Topfield has trouble below 2000 ksym/sec, but the Arion doesn't then the Arion is the one to use.
