Default Diablo Light Cam - newbie query

Hi all,

I recently bought a Diablo Cam off Ebay. The description did say it would 'unlock many channels'. I appreciate that it is a bit more complicated than simply putting the Cam in the slot and expecting the channels to simply 'open'. However, I thought I had better check that the cam is capable of unlocking channels before I start messing.

The Diablo is 1.54 and under 'cam info' it say it is boot version 1.41.

Daft question I know but bear with me I'm still very new to 'satelliting', but does the fact I have a 'boot version' mean that I have the software to start unlocking channels??

Many thanks
David

Mickha is the CAM expert, but in the interim I suggest you have a read of some of the other posts in this section.

For a start you are going to need something to program the CAM with, such as a CAS3 interface.

Things change very quickly in the satelite game and providers always are trying to stop us viewing their channels.
As robbo71 has stated you will need a Cas programmer to update your Cam, I recommend the Cas 3+.
The latest Stealth file is 248 which will currently open the following packages:
Premiere 19E
TPS, Polsat and Sex View 13E
Digi TV 1W
which gives a lot of viewing options.
There is also a new file for the Cam, Underworld 106 which has relaced TPS with Canal Digital 1W, not enough memory for all the available packages.
When you put the cam in your receiver and go into the Cam menu what Stealth is listed on your Cam?
On the back of the Cam does it read Diablo Cam Hardware/Rev 2.2?

Thanks Michka. Doesn't say Stealth anywhere in the CAM menu. In my naivety I was hoping it may have been preloaded. I was hoping I may not have had to purchase a programmer just yet too. Does anyone on this board programme them for a fee? I notice they offer this service on Ebay but it is always for the Dragon. I was advised on the board to get the Diablo which is why I chose it over the Dragon CAM. Hope this was the right decision.

If I do get a CAS3 is it easy to locate the software updates via Google?

I can confirm that on the back of the CAM it does state Rev 2.2.

I advise you to get the Cas 3+ as updates are quite regular.
You were advised correctly in getting the Diablo as it currently opens a lot more than the Dragon cam.
You can find both the Stealth and Underworld firmware on the internet, and if you look in the UK Cable section, Private FTA sub section and read the first two sticky threads by lincsat you will discover links to all the satellite software required.
The Diablo 2.2 is now the older version of the cam as a new cam has been released which holds more memory for the new channels available, with the 2.2 we have a choice of loading a Stealth file for TPS 13E, or Underworld for Canal Digital 1W, the new cam can include both.
Both Stealth and Underworld also currently open Premiere 19E, Polsat and Sex View 13E, and Digi TV 1W, so there is currently a lot of viewing options.
Which satellites can you receive? Do you have a fixed or motorized dish?

I have a Fortec Star Passion linked to a motorised 85cm dish. Robbo has been advising on the alignment. I'm currently receiving 19.2 & Hotbird until I realign to Thor. Probably have a go at the weekend. I understand both Hotbird and Astra 19.2 are two key sats so I'm just pleased to be receiving them. Keen to access some of the sport & movies now!!

I only paid £35 for the Diablo which I think is a good price.

Can you not buy cards (with Stealth on) for the Diablo to unlock the channels????

Looks like I will have to bite the bullet and get a cas3. They seem to be around £49 + P&P (£9!). Is this reasonable?

Many thanks
David

You can only program the Diablo cam using a Cas programmer, and there are known problems with the older Cas 2 so it would be wiser to invest in a later model.
They were cheaper when combined with a Diablo cam, but around that mark seems to be the standard price, if you search you might be able to get it slightly cheaper.

Cas 3 + should be with me tomorrow. Already downloaded Stealth 248. I presume I don't need to install 247 first? I'll look in forums to see how/where to save the files on the cam. Hopefully this is fairy straight forward.

Stealth 248 will currently give you:
Premiere 19E
TPS 13E
Polsat 13E
Sex View 13E
Digi TV 1W

Underworld 106 will currently give you:
Premiere 19E
Polsat 13E
Sex View 13E
Digi TV 1W
Canal Digital 1W

As you can see it is a straight forward choice between TPS and Canal Digital, check lyngsat for which package you might prefer.
