If there is a post about this already please point me in the right direction cheers.
I recently upgraded my starview box with the new firmware and it seemed to be going ok. UNTIL!!! when it finished it didn't come back on. I turned it off and on but nothing happens. the desplay on the front flashes "ON" for a second then that goes off and nothing is desplayed on the pannel. And nothing on the TV screen just black. Now when I try and plug it into my pc it doesn't pick it up on any of the com ports. Am I doing something wrong its the first time I have done one of these. PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!

The new firmware you installed was it for a gen. box and you MAY have a clone.
A cap MAY have blown take the top off and look for leaking or bulging cap. Disconnect first |

What do I do if a cap has blown. And how does the cap blow I only installed the new software. I really need to get this box back on if I can its not mine its my mates. Stupidly I upgraded without checking if it was a clone. Stupid clone boxes.

Buy a new one m8. Using an old one is dodgy. They shouldn't cost too much anyway. Someone here should be able to help you identify it and tell where best to purchase a replacement one. I would also suggest buying 2 or 3 in case you have any problems either replacing it or reflashing the box.
