Default swapbinhex... VERY CONFUSSED

i really didn't want to post this as it makes me look stupid, but when i drag my exteep.bin file into swapbin hex, it isn't doing anything....

because of this, and advice from another forum, i didn't bother with the exteep file, i just used the flash from bigmaq, the inteep from downloads and left the exteep blank...

the card works fine, but surely this means i have not intered by bk or ird, as these are what is programed in the exteep arent they and i didn't ebter them in any other file...??

Default Re: swapbinhex

i think i sussed out why... becuase i couldn't get swapbinhex to work, i used another program called 'hex to bin'... the file this created though was massive, and when trying to write to the card, it crashed cus the file was too big... so i just re wrote the card using just the flash and the inteep, but i am asuming enough of the exteep was written before it crashed the first time...

this being the case, how can i get swapbinhex to work again, so the files can be written propperly...?

If you cannot get the drag and drop to work, use the command line option.

Copy the file you want to convert to the directory where swapbinhex.exe is tored.

Then run Command Prompt.

Change directory to where swapbinhex.exe is

Then type.

"Swapbinhex filename.bin"

or

"swapbinhex filename.hex"

where filename is the file you want to convert and the new file will be created.

To change directory in command prompt use "cd"

and to list the contents of a directory use "dir"

if your card was already working you only need to write the flash

Once you drag the bin file over swapbinhex, the hex file will be created in the same folder.

i.e if you have the bin stored on desktop, i.e tee.bin once drag the file over swapbinhex, then you should see tee.hex on desktop

Have you tried deleted swapbinhex and downloading from a different source, the program could be corrupt..

I couldn't get the drag and drop to work either
I downloaded it from a thread on Techwatch.

To use the command prompt:

Using windows explorer create a new directory on the c: drive call it say "myfiles"
Then drag and drop swapbinhex.exe and the files you want to convert.

Then run Command prompt. ( click on Run and type cmd)

In command prompt type "cd myfiles"

Then type swapbinhex yourfile.bin

where yourfile.bin is the file you want to convert.

yourfile.hex will then appear in the same directory.

I will post a screen shot in a mo.

Robbo.
