Default 2xdm500s vs dm7025

hi
I am considering a replacement for my sly+ box at the moment and i was hoping that the dm8s would have arrived but no such luck.

I need a twin tuner set up so the 7025 is the obvious choice but it seems very expensive so thought i might be able to 'piggy back' two dm500s to get a similar setup is this possible? can one control the others or would i need to add a third party eg. mce?

thank

Hi bess,
Welcome to the forums.

For a start, you will need a twin output LNB. You then need to run two coax cables from the LNB to the room where you have the box/boxes.

Second, if you want to have HDD recording and be able to pause live TV, then you will need the 7025, but if pause live TV is not an issue then the two 500s boxes will serve your purpose, if you have a DVD recorder.

I hope this is of some help to you.

Very best regards Wez

Bess, you really need to go for a 7000s or 7020s which have the ability to fit a hard drive and then you can have timeshift capability just like the sky+.

What you could do is have a 7000(20) and a 500s. You then use the 7000(20) for recording and timeshift and the 500 for watching live tv. The 500s can be used for recording via an external hard drive but I am pretty sure it cant timeshift.

In either case, you need the twin/quad lnb and two lnb cables from the dish.
