Default PSBs on freesat, where is RTE

Good Morning.

I note Channel four will be clear for freesat and is in the clear now on 28.2
due the Govt insisting all PSBs must be FTA.(one in the eye for sky)

I know its a Foreign County, but I wonder where RTE is, they are PSBs in Ireland, it is crazy that if you live Dublin or Kerry. you have to pay a sub
to Sky to watch your own PSBs on satellite in your own country.

I also note the wonderful Greek/Irish channel FTA as gone very quiet again, When I say greek the stations name is in Greek, not Irish.
Strange one that.

RTE will never go fully fta - it would cost them far too much money to clear their programme rights for transmission into the rest of the UK.

"RTE International" or whatever its being called this week is the best we can hope for

It all seems too complicated, It had no effect on the BBC/ITV the other way round, RTE could if wanted do a ORF2 and blank out the problem films & Sport as occurs on the Austrian transponder.

Suppose, what gets me, is Skys greed, charging people in Ireland to
watch their PSBs.

Anyhow Anglosat, did you say you were a Birmingham fan,or a defection to the baggies I also note Rai Uno made no responce,or did he?

Pity, Rai Unos mirth was good.

Anyhow you mention Walsall, we have a new train service from next Monday, 5 a day Wrexham to Marylebone, via Walsall area. Will I need a translator for the black country lingo

Hi Bob,
Sad to see tonight's results, that is it then?

Thanks for this thread, I did not know anything about this RTE International thingy, is there a frequency for it yet?

Keep on smiling mate there is always next season, you might get back up again. You can always support Cardiff in the cup final, that is who I'll be supporting anyway.

Very best regards Wez

Too keen KW! - RTE International is a Q2 2009 launch - assuming the politicians get their act together

Thanks AS,
I suppose it would be too much to hope for, getting the local channel, even if it is the International version, without having to pay Rupert.

BTW I see you are just one from the ton in the thanks department AS, and not out too lol.

Very best regards Wez

YUp Wrexham are down - and the old quiz question about naming the league teams with an x in the name no longer has any truth in it - they have all been relegated to the conference!

EDIT - just had another look at the League 2 table. Wrexham arent mathematically doomed yet - they have 2 games left, are 6 points from safety and have a poor goal difference (having a gd 8 worse than D&R)

By my reckoning to stay up they need to win both remaining games, hope Dagenham lose both of theirs, AND improve their gd by 9 more than than D&R. (Not going to happen is it??) Anything other than a win on Saturday sends them down for certain.

As for the second relegation place - Mansfield are second bottom - and their last game of the season is against D&R who are one place above them - so we could have another "game of death" on the last day of the season.

Never heard that one or even thought of it AS, it is a good one though. The times are a changing, as Bob, not the Welsh one, once sung.

It is great to get the time to post complete sh!t like my post here, better than last week any time, but it will happen again, just hope what we have been through has given us the experience to deal with it, next time. I hope it is a very long time, also.

Very best regards Wez
