How to tell difference between 500s and 500s plus?

The 500s is notorious for motor problems

I haven't got a 500s although i do own a clone of one which is virtually identical. Its now in the spare bedroom for use on 28.2e.

I have heard some people say that you have to increase the voltage setting for a diseqc motor although this made no difference to mine

You will find the voltage setting in the satellite configuration section from menu -> 6

Then setup using USALS and fine tune as it won't find the sats first time

I will be very surprised if you get it working correctly with a diseqc motor. Mine used to constantly over shoot the positions when it could be bothered to move in the first place. If i was you mate i would start saving for a 7000 series unit as the 500 will drive you up the wall

Thats one thing I've never had a problem with it turns the motor no problems. Its just that it can't lock onto half the transponders on the satellites. I think that I'm going to have to return these units or get him to collect as I ain't paying 40 euro again to send them back.

Are there any other linux based receivers with in built ethernet etc that aren't big money?
