How to tell difference between 500s and 500s plus?

Just ordered a 500s and wanted to know does it tell you on the package if its a plus or not ?

Hi mate,
The box will be just what you ordered, if you ordered a 500s that is what you will get, I would imagine. The 500s is just an older model of the 500+, but I think that the + might have a bit more memory. I would think that the + would be that bit more expensive to buy. If you google the both of them you will find what the difference is.

Thanks wez have it setup and flashed and all went well but now it doesn't want to move the motor at all and when it does it sends it to the wrong positions.

I have to use the darkbox to move it back.

The light on the motor does not stay a constant green when using dreambox it flickers from orange to green.


Anyone have this before?

That is a weird one mate. Have you set your lat and long in it for the usuals? Try this 69, go to the set up and then to the motor settings, not sure if that is the right description, but you will know what I mean, when you go to set up to the second line down, hit the Ok button. Now go to the third line down, can't just remember what it is called, hit the OK button again. The next page that comes up will have a box you need to click to have it checked, it is for the usuals, now you can enter your lat and long in the boxes, make sure to change the East to West, when you have done that hit the Green button, now that should do the job for you. If I am telling you to do something you have done already, please forgive me, I am not trying to patronise you, just trying to help.

I don't know if you are using a settings file for the satellites or not, but it is very handy to do so, as all the scanning is done for you and the bouquets have been done also. I find that the Captains Settings is very good. Just one small thing has occurred to me, if you scanned the satellites yourself, did you hit the Green button to save them?

Hope this has been of some help to you and that you get it sorted very soon, please let me know how things are going. Another thought has hit me, when the image was flashed and on the first boot, did you go to the many satellites when it came up, it is the last option, to the far right? You do not want to be choosing the diesqu, spelt wrong, it will not help your cause and will not operate the motor right.

After more investigation work I have now found that when i go into the manual transponder lists and change to different transponders one group all lock fine and then the next group won't lock and there the groups that i can't get.

I have disabled all diseq functions and have it fixed to astra lined up with a professional meter so am pulling in over 97% on both high and low.

Like lets say sky one is on 12.285 V and when i check this transponder it won't lock.

I have loads of other channels perfect.

My thoughts are it could be the tuner as my dreambox picks up all the other channels no problem when i do a blind search.

But thanks wez for your input so far. And you were right when i decided to get into the motorised sat hobby I should of gone for a dreambox first time.

Too right mate, not trying to put a damper on your enthusiasm but please be sure that it is not a clone, before you flash it with the Gemini 4.3.1 image, some times it is just 431. There is a checker somewhere on here, that Nanochicken posted, I have opened another tab to look for it, best to be safe. The Gemini is about the easiest image to use. If you can get the captains settings and use dreamboxedit to load it to you box and then have a go with the usuals and let me know what has happened. Be sure to activate the usuals when you have the settings file loaded, it will take a few minutes for the box to be reset after you have the file loaded. The button for the reset dreambox is to the top right of the dreamboxedit page.

Hope you'll soon have it sorted and are looking at all the goodies.

I have just used that app and have run it and no clone bomb present but in saying that i'm using 4.2 gemini as i didn't want to go any further.

I know that this thread has gone way off topic but I have installed captains lists and there great.

So once installed half of the channels aren't coming threw like b4 half of them the signal is great and the other half in the low 60's.

I setup usuals again and its the same thing not finding satellites etc. It was working fine b4 then stopped.


Any suggestions.

Might try a different image and see does that help in any way

It will not be the image mate. It sounds very much like the dish is not quite right, but that will have to wait till tomorrow What signal do you get from Atlanticbird @8W? It should be pretty high.

Were you able to use usals with your other box? If you were then your lat and long must be correct, but the dish could be out just that wee bit and the 500s tuner is not as good as one in the other box and it is not picking the signals up right.
