A Crank Yanker!
|
I have a laptop with Windows XP without a com port, I do have the parallel printer port along with PCMCIA slots and USBx3.
ffice ffice" />Now then... I need a new card programmer. Looking around I have found good and bad reports on the new USB only type and keep going back to look at the type which utilise both USB and com ports... I’m sure you know the type I’m looking at. I's a little cheaper as well!I would like a com port for other pieces of kit I have... got the idea? Now, searching around there are various pieces of kit that can provide a com port on such a computer without this facility... I have attached a couple of photos which I have taken from misco.co.uk. Using a piece of kit like this would then allow me to use the Infinity Phoenix and other pieces of kit I have lying around... wouldn’t it? ![]() Anyone got any experience of these pieces of kit? Or any suggestions perhaps... or is that asking for trouble? Lol! ![]() |

I use one very similar too if not the same as the little blue one at the bottom,it works fine on a dynamite on me lappy as well as an unlooper BUT it will not flash via that cable youll need true serial for that, that saidi have managed with only one with different flash and prog,
Anyway so far its done all i need of it,Kryptview/starview/ddigital etc with no issues, the pcmcia ones are very good also, Marc |

I have a similar cable to the last one, which i use for erovox quite succesfully, and other serial requirements, but I flash cards with an infinity usb which is great anyway, and can write to funcards on the usb alone, rather than using phoenix mode.

Has anyone experience with the Infinity Unlimited then out of curiostity? I'm reading prolems with the unlimited VCP [Virtual Com Port] facility in Phoenix mode and keep looking back-over on the Infinity USB Phoenix. Head's kinda spinin now like! |

VCP is a PITA to be honest,it works for some not for others,pc seems to be a big factor,
If your going to be needing phoenix capability then get a true phoenix progger, thers no comparison to be honest, the adapter should deal it ok mine does, Marc |

Very little info on this one... and the manufacturers are'nt very forthcoming either.
Anyone with info on these pieces of kit? Hate to invest and find I'm stuck in a hole.
