Default Man gets criminal record for over filling wheelie bin

What a joke this is.

Read the story in the paper and is on the news.

A guy in Cumbria overfilled his wheelie bin by a few inches, council officials gave him a fixed penalty of 100 quid odd which he refused to pay.

Magistrates then gave him a 200 quid odd fine and he now has a criminal record.

Apparently the officials wear stab vests when visiting.

When you have stupid rules/rulings like this it does not bode well for the future of this country.

A simple warning should have sufficed.

The council should be fined for being a bunch of muppets! and allowing such a trivial matter to escalate.

What about the real criminals?

We don't have weelie bins yet so its as many bin bags as you can get outside your house

The place where i used to live they just refused to empty it if the lid didn't shut properly, Its still bloody stupid though

I'm voting for the Raving monster loony party this year

I like their thoughts that a Cabinet should be made of wood, not people. Still they have got it nearly right. The current one is made of wood

DEAD WOOD

In my County,Wrexham County Council.

I am on the black bag scheme, due to being very rural, the local village have now been put on wheelie bins, boxes etc and a green wheelie bin for garden waste.

I and my neighbour have been given green wheelie bins for garden waste
which we already composte etc, I contacted the Council,an inspector
came around to explain as the village is on these bins for garden waste
the council will call every week to empty it, but the normal waste will now be collected every two weeks.
On explaining both myself & neighbour leave our bags every thursday at the bottom of my lane, as the bin lorry can not turn around half mile further up the lane where the neighbour lives.
The inspector said the bin lorry will look at the bottom of the drive every week, if no wheelie bin is there, they will go away every week. We explained this is a waste of fuel, but to no avail, so since March the lorry goes one mile off the main road to my lane, turns round and goes away
every week empty, the black bag lorry calls twice a month, so we have four visits for nothing,in fact my neighbour is old and unable to wheel his bin half a mile to meet the lorry that never collects anyway.
Is the world gone mad, dont know the cost of wheelie bins, the bin men told me, we were not alone in this, as new cost saving measures were in place to meet targets, and they had to return to base three times due to
over loading to meet the once a week collection as was,so overtime is almost guranteed.

So if you cant close the weelie bin lid, it is cost effective to throw the excess in the street

Yes but make sure there is nothing in the bags with your name on it. Or do what I threatened to do and dump it in the reception area of the council building

East Renfrewshire Council in Scotland now collect food waste for composting on top of newspapers and garden refuse. It's then driven in a fleet of lorries over 100 miles to Perth where the only re-cycling centre is. With diesel at 119.9p per litre in Scotland where's the sense in that?
