Can anyone let me know what type of cable I need to connect to my laptop, have tried with my router cable, but laptop (win xp ) will not find the dbox.

Hi Mate you need a RJ45 Patch cable mate (Cross over cable)

this will go from your ethernet port to the Dbox

Also for best results get a NULL Cable (rs232) serial cable where both ends are female
