Either NDS do a very good job of keeping their encryption software secure or any software and cracks are kept secret because of the power of Sky's lawyers. Personally I think it is the latter as I don't believe any system can be 100% secure. Either way, it means that they only way to get Sky is to subscribe.

If you mean updating the channel info and general software then the box should do it automatically if left on for a while.

I read an article once how a firm in Israel cracked ITV Digital. To crack the chip they used an electron microscope and the total cost to crack was £500,000. The firm was funded (and is now owned) by Murdoch.

The crack information was sent via email un-encrypted by the Israel firm to a firm in the states and got 'intercepted' and a flood of chipped ITV Boxes hit the market and ITV Digital collasped.

ITV Digital tried to take Murdoch to court but didn't have the money.

I would venture a very well educated guess that that outfit which hacked ITV digital, was in fact the same outfit that Murdock has now doing the work on the NDS system. It just seems to be too much of a consistence to me.

The 1/2 million would have been very well spent by Murdock, he and his entire family, are megalomaniacs, the more they get the more they want. They get the cops to do their dirty work for them and the courts and judges are all probably well paid for their services, I would imagine, just my thoughts not the forums. He is desperately trying to get into the net now, they own My Space and their arms a very long and their pockets very, very deep. They could take an entire country to court and have the money to do it.

The chances of anyone telling the general public that they have hacked NDS are non existent.

Rant over, for the time being, I really hate Sly and their repeat ridden channels, I can do well without them.

Very best regards Wez
