Default New Vantage 8000ST Out Soon

Spoke with Vantage yesterday and was told that the Vantage 8000 Satellite and Terrestrial HD receiver will be out soon and will have proper blind scan. No price mentioned though.

From what I heard, you will be able to change the red display colours to blue. There will be an S version with two satellite tuners and two USB sockets one on the front and one on the back. It is set to be released in mid May.

when you mean proper blind scan, is it hardware based like the x1 and x2 series receivers that can do scanning in steps from 1mhz to 5mhz

the current vantage hd receiver are software only which does 3 or 4 mhz step scan

A hardware blindscan was not one of the features that I heard. If it is going to have this then I'm sure it would have been mentioned as I don't believe there are any HD receivers which can do a hardware blindscan.

If it could do this then I might be tempted to go for the 8000 over the 7100 as the new features don't interest me enough to part with more money.

Dr Dish has reviewed the 8000. The hardware blind scan is mentioned. It also has a twin tuner with the possibility of fitting a hard disk. The only down side is the price which may be about 519 euros without hard disk. I suspect this may limit uptake of this receiver. On the plus side it is the only HD receiver with hardware blind scan on the market so far.

sounds good if the blind scanning is as good as the x100, x200 series vantage receivers it will be a very good hd receiver to have for people who like feed hunting

I asked Vantage if they they could make it possible for the ITV HD channel to work on their HD receivers and today they have released software to make it work. Its good to know that they listen to requests. If all the HD software bugs are finally fixed then the 8000 is looking like the ideal box!

I think it's one of the few manufacturers that actually listen to their customers.
