Updating starview clones

Hello,

I have a starview clone which has the starview API vr:2.57e_E Boot ver :7.0 16. Aug 2006 software, which I presume needs updating with the the clone fix by sunrise (bigmaq) before the damn thing starts working again (it packed up 2 weeks ago!).

Could anyone please give me a fools-guide to updating, including the cable types and connection I will need to use from my laptop to the box. Any help will be much appreciated. Thanks.

Firstly your going to need a comport,if your laptop hasnt got one then you got a couple of choices,
Either get a pcmcia serial card OR get a usb/serial adapter BUT before you rush out and get the latter they dont always work!!!!

So barring that you do this,
Download Gtrom loader V4
Purchase a NULL MODEM CABLE (Ebay about 2 quid)
Now you have all this and the fix file,
Connect cable to pc (9 pin null modem cable to serial card or adapter)
Connect other end to starview
Open the loader
Click APP file Only
Press browse button and locate the new fix file (clonesafe)
Click Download
Immeidately turn the power on to the box
The trasnfer should start and finish
DO NOT unplug until the download success tab appears.

Right,
Now plug the box in on the cable stream and if needed do a channel scan
Once the channels are scanned and saved ,
Press MENU 1570
Scroll down to KEY EMU
Turn to "ON"
Exit out to tv channel.
Wait for it to update.

Still waiting for the pcmcia serial card I bought on ebay.
