Hi,
seen this on sale in maplins and was wondering how good a deal it is. I assume you'll be able to pick up the new freesat service that is coming out http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...22155&DOY=24m4 Still to take the plunge for a sat system but my fingers are twitching and the Visas feeling nervous.. ![]() |

I personally would not go for the Fortec Star receiver given the choice - I owned an older model a couple of years ago and support soon dried up.
Look on the classifieds to see what's on offer. I'm sure one of the guys there will be glad to advise you. http://www.techwatch.co.uk/forums/#t...ch-classifieds Yorks ![]() |

Hello. I bought a motorised system from Maplin that included a Fortecstar Mercury 2 receiver.
That receiver had problem controlling the motor. Looked on the Fortec website and there is a software update for this problem on this receiver, but not on the european version. I changed it over for a Fortecstar Omega reciever which locked up on scrambled channels and rebooted and froze when doing a scan. Took that back and got a partial refund. My advise would be not to buy Fortecstar as the support for their very receivers is poor. Ended up buying a Technomate 5400 CI+ from Southern Satellites the receiver being superior to the Fortecstar in all respects. |
