Sounds like shes the victim of a trojan horse. Happened to my brother recently. Had to wipe everything from the pc and reinstall. Only way he could get rid. You need to have up to the minute security to prevent these things.

You could try ''avast''. Google it and download the home edition or ditto for ''avg''. Might work. Depends how deep the bugs are buried in your system. Safer to wipe clean and start from scratch if possible.

hello i have heard this problem before and would suggest you should system restore your computer to a previous point when you werent getting those pop ups as members have already mentioned it sounds like a type of virus which comes through your pc and starts to slow the pc down which does happen sometimes if you have tried anti-virus software such as AVG free and Spybot-Search and destroy and you have tried scanning to get rid of it and other things then the only thing that might be able to be done to get rid of the virus is SYSTEM RESTORE which restores your pc back to a previous point before you never had that problem. if you need any anti virus programs look at some anti virus programs in the thread in software section and try these if not go to start>programs >then Accessories>System tools>System Restore to restore your pc back to a previous point or should you call it back to a certain date.
hope this helps. the simpsons ![]() |

Your mother in law may have gone to a site that wanted to run a virus check and she has terminated it so now every time you open the browser it wants to run
what are the pop ups, it could be a virus but it could be a legitamate program trying to run. you need to state exactly what the pop up says before anyone can help you |

Sounds like a simple ie hijack, download HijackThis and post the scan result here so I can check it for you.
