Default connecting laptop to my landline

hello
can anyone tell me how to connect my laptop to my broadband?
im trying to connect to my Aol that my son has on his pc but everytime i try to connect it asks for a user name and password.
i dont have wireless broadband. my laptop is set to Auto what ever that means.

It is asking for your sons username and password for AOL and if you haven't got wireless then you will have to connect to your sons pc via an ethernet cable.

Your best option is to get a wireless router and connect your son's PC to the internet via that. You then connect your laptop wirelessly to the router and the internet.
