It is just the angle from the ground upwards to where you want the dish to point. For 28E in the UK it is usually between 25 and 30 degrees. When a minidish looks like its pointing straight forward, it is actually pointing up in the sky by about 25 degrees. Like my drawing below.

well iv pointed my dish in the same direction that other houses in the street are. but i seem to be getting 19.2 East instead. i'l have another go tomorrow, if not i'l get an installer to do it for me as i dont seem to be winning. how much should i expect to pay as i have all of the equipment & my dish just needs aligning ? as i dont wanna get ripped off. also if there any members &/or companies on here that uno of that will do a good job at a good price in the Sheffield/South Yorkshire area ?
thanks Last edited by raindancerob; 28-04-08 at 10:18 PM. |

a local installer is coming out a week on wednesday (as thats when i get paid) he said that he'd do it for £35. does that seem like an ok price ? btw it just needs aligning as its been put up ok, as i said earlier in this trend.

Yes have another go mate, if you definitely have 19E, you just need to point left more and down a bit. |

I have a similar problem...but i cant get anything at all
![]() I bought a sat in a box from lidl, and i cant find any sats at all, i am thinking it may be trees nearby causing me to get no pics..i dono tho. I get 80% strength on top bar, but never anymore than 14% on bottom one (quality) i have had it up/down/round left/right, there is a tall tree about 50m away...could that be the cause of my inability to get a picture ? i have looked on dishpointer....and include a foto below....do you see a problem on it you could tell me about plz.. Looking at the time on that picture and the shadows from the trees, you are looking in the wrong direction. It is more likely that the houses are in the way unless you can get the dish high enough.

That pic is from the Dishpointer.com site...i dont know what Time has to do with it tho.....and where does it show the time ?...anyway, the White looking line is the one generated by the dishpointer web site, so i must assume it is correct, i only added the red lines to highlight the Trees. Can you explain why you think the direction is wrong...thanks.

The direction isn't wrong, the red blob represents the dish and the blue line which way it has to point. As long as the height diffrence between the bottom of the dish and the top of far the tree is less than 18m, you should get a signal. Not enough detail given for the small tree.
