a up ppl iv brought a Sky Digibox (which im picking up on Sunday) & a zone 1 mini dish. iv been away from satellite tv for awhile now like so im abit rusty. anyways in the past i used two fixed dishes 60 cm & 80 cm for astra & hot bird which i installed myself on some poles in the garden (washing line poles actually lol). i found these two dishes very easy to install in fact all that i used was my receiver & the two dishes. anyways iv never installed dishes onto the side of a house before & it took alot of convincing as its my girl friends parents house. iv also ordered a satellite finder meter to make the job that little bit easier. the house is semi detached & the neighbour on the right (detached) has a mini dish installed, which will also help. anyways how easy will it be for me to install the dish im guessing pretty easy & is there any tips that you can give me at all ? im in Sheffield, South Yorkshire if that helps.

If you have set up dishes before you won't have a problem.
For a minidish you can get away with 4 coach bolts and rawlplugs. Choose a wall the that faces south if you can, get the bracket level. Set the dish face so it looks roughly vertical, then carefully swivel roun to the east until you get a signal on the default transponder on the digibox, then adjust for max signal quality. If you are on the correct satellite you should be able to watch something. Robbo ![]() |

What network ID are you getting?
For 28E the network ID should read 0002, with a transport stream of 07d4 On Astra 19E I believe the network ID is 0000 Have a quick look at this:- http://www.brymar.co.uk/info/Astra/align/align.html and this:- http://www.leisurepower.co.uk/acatal...ox_advice.html (Ignore all references to Spain and southern beam)

That is good, at least it looks like you have found a satellite.
You can confirm for example by using the add channels feature on your box and manually typing in one of the Astra1 (19.2E) transponder details and doing a scan. I use to get this one on my Sky Dodgiox- 11568V 22000 5/6. One of the channels will be TVE International If it is 19E, you need to move the dish East by about 10 degrees and down a bit, On the bracket it will be about 1 cm on a minidish. |

i was just wondering i had to put it on the shed but the way that the dish is pointing is towards the house, so maybe that has something to do with it ? but as im getting Astra 19.2 East when its facing the house (at an angle not straight on) would it be ok, or will i have to move the dish ?

Impossible for me to say
![]() Dishpointer.com will give you the required elevation angle for 28E for your location. If the top of the house falls below the required elevation angle when pointing to 28E, the dish has line of site over the top and it will be OK. If you can pick up a working channel on 19E eg the one I mentioned before, I would be surpised if you could not get 28E, it would only be a bit lower. |
