Default Re: MAC or PC?

It's all very well saying that Macs are more expensive than PCs but then Mac users don't need to buy Antivirus software. I've had Macs for 15 years and each time I've changed my computer I've managed to sell my old one. Who'll buy a PC that's 3 year's old? And if they did, how much would they pay for it? Virtually nothing...
I use my Mac every day for my work and I'm not doing graphics or music. I want something that's dependable and easy to use. The only time I had a major problem it was due to a Microsoft application - Office. And believe it or not, Microsoft couldn't sort it out and it was Apple that came to the rescue.
Most people who buy PCs do it to either play games or want a glorified typewriter with Internet access. Most Mac users are computer buffs who see their computer as more than just a tool and wouldn't dream of buying one in a supermarket at the same time as buying their weekly groceries!
And anyway, how can you judge something when you've never tried it?

Ive always been a PC, I have tried Macs in show rooms and I have yet to be able to get them to do anything other than sit there and look pretty I am about to try (if the new memory ever arrives) Linux Kubuntu on an old PC currently running ME, I will miss using ME though I have always been a fan. It was a tough desision to swap to XP about 5 years ago.

I'd be surprised if you missed Me, it's the most horrible OS I've ever seen (and I've used NT4 pre SP6, OS2, Gem.....)

Well you are wrong I love Windows ME. I have never had any problems with it. It was much better than windows 98.

You are possibly the only person alive who hasn't had problems with Windows ME. And as for the PC/MAC debate, i have a PC but thats due to the fact i can build one cheaply myself. I'm studying music tech at uni and will eventually be using a mac to do recording and mastering, as Logic 8 can't be beaten

Sure, Mac. You can install Win Vista on it if you miss PC. Their own OS is far better than Windows because they make both the hardware and software

I use both...but for me, doing video editing projects and other graphics stuff is a lot quicker and better outcome on a mac...

when you say mac or pc i like to take the best of both worlds and chuck a pc mix in the with my leopard hackintosh. i am running 10.5.6 on my desktop pc now it runs like and dream i also have vista installed on the same rig. But when you say hackintosh your in for a steap learning cerve with drivers that are called kext files. i know this because when you install apple software on to a pc you have to get all the hardware working (ie graohics sound usb) and sometumes more, so its not for the fante harted. but if anyone wants to give it a shot your more than welcome to ask me a few questions and will help you with your installs.
