Itv HD records perfectly well on the TM6800HD, I have a stunning picture from GER v ENG from about a month ago.

But, yes, the HD content is severly lacking. The TM also gets CH4 HD as well, withe a Sky card, but the picture quality is not up to much.

interesting cos my topfield wont record itv hd, satworld has one and he says the same. i shall have to play around and check with suppliers to see why and if there is a fix for it as it could give me 3 hd channels to record on 28e. ref 4hd my pic on toppy in quite good. the stb is fab apart from not record itv hd

I know that this post is a little late but i had to write it , early December i asked a local aerial installation firm for a quote to put up a motorise dish telling them i had no cable i was told £50 plus cable plus vat, so went ahead and broubht said dish, got permission 31 Dec so got in touch with the firm 2 fitters came round took a look didnt want to fix dish where i wanted it thentook one look at the 90cm dish and motor and said it would cost £200 my answer starts with F and ends with F phones the boss on Monday to complain about the big difference £50-£200 he says 2 men half a day its worth £200 i then tells him many years ago i was an installaton engineer with Belcher Electronics who at the time were the repair installaton side of Currys so i says even tho ive bad hips lend me your ladders and ill fit it myself in 2 hours and hung up, phoned another firm to be quoted £600 now going to rent a set of ladders when the weather picks up

Would you goto someones house and install a motorised system with guarantee for 50 and then split it with whoever helped ya.

Please remember that there's travel costs, insurance, fixtures and labour to the think about. I personally wouldn't install a motorised system for anything less then £150.

Sounds like baiting hoping you'd be intimidated into paying the full price once he had the job.
Surely If he'd said £200 over the phone you could have made a better informed decision and possibly been willing to pay that.

£50 is far too cheap anyway to fit a motorised dish properly, it normally takes me the whole morning including checking the arc and running the cables etc, showing the customer how to use it etc, drinking tea and chatting etc.
Plus the time spent on a pre-visit (which in my opinion is absolutely) necessary, trip to the wholesaler to get parts, fuel for vehicle etc.

Anything between £100 and £200, you should expect to pay. The normal is about £150. I do it for a £100, as it is a sideline, and actually I love doing them, it gives me plenty of practice.
a bit more if there are difficult cable runs etc, but subject to seeing the installtion site first.

Agreed, they should have given you a realistic price to start with.

your quote " When I got permission" what do you mean,I have to agree,
£50 should have started to ring bells.

After all Vauxhall did(or stil do) charge £100 an hour for labour(or layabout) £85 plus vodka & Tonic.

Question Re: Installing your own Freesat satellite dish and save £80.

Hmm! This thread has gone suddenly quiet. I was enjoying it apart from the argumentative bits.

So what is the advice on installing your own FreeSat system, including aligning the dish, choosing a receiver and the pros and cons of using existing (i.e. ex-Sky) dish and receiver hardware.
