EV2 Firmware Update Guide

I've added this because I believe it's slightly different to the Ronsters guide. Hopefully it's correct, helping out other EV2 users and stopping repeatative threads.

Maybe it could be Stickied if found to be helpful.

1. Download & Unzip EuromaxLoader.exe EuromaxLoader.rar

2. Download & Install TheChatterBox Toolbar http://www.thechatterbox.cc/

3. Download & Unzip the latest Eurovox2 firmware from TheChatterBox Toolbar

4. Run EuromaxLoader.exe (aka DnupMan.exe)

5. Connect the EV2 to a PC via a null modem serial cable. Lincsat's Nick-nacks (Shop)

6. Power up EV2.

7. Save your channel list (CDF file) with EuromaxLoader.exe by pressing Upload (under Channel Data) after browsing (7a) for a save location.

8. Load the (previously saved & unzipped (3)) EV2 firmware into the application by browsing for the file under the Firmware heading.

9. Download the firmware to your EV2 by pressing the Download button (again under Firmware)

10. Wait until download is completed.

11. Put your previously saved channel list back on your EV2 by pressing Download button (under Channel Data)

12. Wait until completed then switch off and disconnect EV2 from PC.

13. Connect your EV2 to a cable input.

Hopefully that's sorted it. Try 5ky 5p0rt5 1, leaving it updating 3-5 minutes if needed.

If you get a problem viewing channels after try a Menu>Config>Clear Data>Password>Factory Default on your box, choosing the location nearest to you. Then re-download your Channel List again (11)

Note: I've also had intermittent problems with my remote not working since Sunrises update. No idea how to fix.

how important is it to keep the channel list???
problem i have is that since updating firmware my epg has been rubbish,,its pretty unusuable,,im wondering wether its because i didn't save my previous channel data..
i just did factory defualt to nearest area and scanned it,,got all channels etc but terrible epg

mines a eurovox one...

Not sure how well EPG works on EV1 as I've never owned one. Maybe someone else can help. Now & again mine goes kinda weird, only showing partial text, I can cure this by power cycling the box. Unplug then plug back in after 10 seconds or so. I'm not sure if EPG works fully with no glitches on EV1 & 2's so it may be something we have to put up with.

Oh, and it's preferable to save your channel list before flashing as it can be hard to find a replacement.

thx for the help but i hav a prob when i download dnupman file it goes into vlc and i cant open it where am goin wrong

Highlight the (downloaded) .RAR file. Right-click. Open with... Winzip or WinRAR. Then extract the .EXE file and run. Hope this sorts you out. It sounds as though you have VLC associated with ZIP/RAR files, if so you should change this.
