Default help needed

Hi
This will make you smile
I used to have a Topfield 5010 pvr
and I am now considering(seriously) buying a technomate 6800 combo .
My problem is that i live in Finland and "Sky " don't allow their card to be updated in any machine other than the Grundig that they supply ,which are not available with a hdd and hd it is one or the other ,we don't have analogue any more so the hd is a must
I want to know
1.will a machine bought from England or Germany work with the Thor satellite ?
2 Will the patched ones available on Ebay offer anything to me or are they solely for uk users
3 Some machines are twin tuners and no means of storage so how exactly does that work? Can I use any kind of hdd?
Thanks if you have stayed with me

1. yes as long as it has a cam slot or conax embedded encryption card reader. you will need to find out if canal digital uses a cam.

2. as long as you have a large dish you should be able to pickup premiere on astra 1 19east, hotbird 13e for polsat. these are packages you can receive on patched receiver or programmable cam module.

also as your in finland you maybe interested to know that canal digital nordic is hacked on 1west and can be decrypted with a diablo v2.3 cam.

3. some twin tuner receivers which don't use a standard hard disc inside will have either usb or e-sata connection on the back to use an external hard disc for recording of programs.

on the subject of sky you can get a sky+ or sky hd receiver quite easy if you have means to get a subscription by a relative/friend in uk etc

as they are available to buy on many sites and a few will ship abroad.

i also understand the dreambox will work with sky cards as well
