i,m new to all this, more at home with cable tv. need some help with a little problem .
my father inlaw managed to go through his cable( the one that leads to his dish). now i thought it would be simple,so i just went round, put 2 f-plugs on either side and rejoined it with a coupler.
turned the power back on, his box just says " no signal being receieved"
bit of a nightmare really.
what i need to know, is does it have to be a straight through coax between the box and the dish? or do i need to do something else now its reconnected?
btw, its just a normal sky box,not sky+ , any help greatly appreciated.

joining it shouldn't be a problem, you may lose a bit of signal quality but not enough to lose all the signal. try unplugging the box for a few minuets then start it up again.

yeah its nuts, just says no signal when i reboot it.

You probably have not fitted the connectors properly.

mate, thanks a lot, i didnt leave any of the copper braid, i just cut it off level with the outer black plastic. i,ll go round and try this way tommorow,cheers robbo.

yep no return path for the power supply to the LNB.
