Default Has my modem been bricked????

something a bit strange has happened, on sunday morning I found I had no cable connection so replaced my original, found the same problem and called virgin.

The problem seemed to be that the upstream was not locking on to a frequency although the engineer who turned up said that the signals were fine (meanwhile I was thinking 'no they're not mate, I've tried more than one modem!') turns out that he fixed it by repacing my subscribed modem which confused the hell out of me!

Now I've got the connection back I've gone to put the flashed modem back in and found that the admin status was set to 2 and the max dl tries was set to 0, I changed these back and tried a few more MAC address's but still no joy getting the modem to connect. It's a 250 with solid power and ethernet lights but nothing else, can anyone help?

Scratch that, it seems that the settings had all been returned to the firmware defaults, not too sure how that happened be it Virgin or just a bizzare coincidence but I've trawled through and it's working again now
