finally got round the missus and got cash for a new box
basically i have been looking at the dreambox 7025si twin tuner with built in hdd 320gb for around £480 from sat store with a cable and a satellite tuner will this work like my eurovox max v does for cable as im after moving this upstairs and will it let me record cable and watch satellite at the same time or vice versa a bit like sky+ i have been after a dish for the footy for a while finally get the cash for it and the seasons about done just my look lol but the reason im looking at this is i was about to buy another eurovox for upstairs but as im after saturday footy thought this would work out just the job so because im a newb id like some advice please and are there any other boxes maybe cheaper that will do the same job i know the dreambox can be a little complicated for some people but im here to learn and hopefully its not much different to updating the software on my eurovox thanks in advance |

If you install the right tuner and the right emu in a 7025 it will open up most of the cable channels.(Correct at time of thread)
![]() As far as i am aware you can record and watch another channel at the same time, although don't quote me on this as i only have the 7020 model ![]() If your a newb i wouldn't even be considering the Dreambox to be honest with you. Its a very capable receiver but it comes with a hellishly steep learning curve. I've had mine 18 months and i'm still finding things now that suprise me Its not just a case of updating the Dreambox like you would a Eurovox. The Dreambox is setup mostly using FTP from your computer, In a word it would be a complete nightmare for newb ![]() If you want an easy receiver to go for i would be looking down the route of something like a Technomate or a Vantage STB as they are easilly updated and they can both read a Conax or Viaccess card so you can watch the footy ![]() ![]() Nano

yes but could i view both cable and satelite on those recievers which is what im after as im after running my virgin through the same box as the satellite to save buying a new eurovox
the learning of the dreambox is something im interested in and as the footy seasons all but over it gives me three months to come to terms with it although im sure the dreambox will be complicated at first i am not to bad on a computer and pick most things up pretty quick and im sure you guys will give plenty of support anyway one more thing when you say you can pick most virgin channels on the dreambox do you mean you cant get as many as the eurovox or if anyone else knows how many please post as this is a crucial part for me |

You need to ask in the cable section regarding the capabilities of the Dreambox for that use. ![]() |

Yes you can use the 7025 for both cable and satellite. I have a friend that uses his 7025 on both satellite and Cable
![]() It will pick up and open exactly the same stuff as the eurovox ![]()

Yes, that is an OK price. A 1m dish is normally about £50, the motor approx £35, plus £10 for an LNB, and you would still need cable etc.
The sat finder meters are OK, I never bother though and just use a portable TV connected to the receiver instead, even though I do have a satfinder. ![]() |
