to tell the truth i dont know what firm ware was on, it was already on when i bought the box, thiking of binning it lol

Thanks Marc. I wouldn't hesitate but because its for a mate I dont want to brick it. Scarey that some firmware should be fake.
And thanx too for your guide on the "updating a clone" thread. The box I was updating was exactly like a Starview 1 except for the heatsink so my head was well and truely done in. thanx again for replying.

Thats ok mate,
Also if your unsure if its real or fake just put the clonesafe software on it,it will function perfectly on both kinds of boxes and that way if your in any doubt at least you know it will work and wont brick,
