Apparently its very hard to pick up on standard FTA boxes, and Sky boxes....

Only people I've seen that can pick it up are using PC Cards.

There have been people, with certain FTA boxes, picking it up as a Radio Channel.

No - its using H.222 coding which makes it unavailable to virtually all receivers.

Why would they want to do that, they are advertising supported, restricting the audience is counter-productive. Now, if they were getting a kick-back from Freesat sales, that would be a different story.

I can't believe that Freesat would be even more restrictive than Sky, that would alienate so many people, including many on here

very true but this is a corporation we are talking about It already seams as if the freesat box's only let you view channels on the EPG, with no way to manually tune any other so I wouldn't put it past them just to spite SKy

You have any link to a company selling a box that works with this channel? doesn't matter if it's a 19" rack headend receiver.

No - the only folk Ive heard are getting it are using pci cards.

HOWVER, wait a few days and it may well appear on PSB Freesat boxes if nothing else - the service officially goes live on Tuesday. Maybe the new Freesat PSB boxes can handle H.222, or maybe the coding will change.

These will be easy to get off the shelf in electrical shops in any town in the UK

Well the possibility of recording 2 HD channels on SKY HD and watching ITV HD or BBC HD on the freesat box does sound nice ANOTHER decoder for ITV HD is a bit much now.
