Default Re: DVB-C on Linux?

I have the TT 1500 working on UBUNTU for FTA channels, but can't get the Softcam to work at all.

Kelv, could you give me some pointers, or maybe write a Tut for Kaffeine and SC plugin.

Many TIA

If you have managed to get the softcam plugin to appear in the DVB-Plugins menu in Kaffeine you are nearly there, Not sure which version to recommend as they all seem to work ok, but there is no automatic keys detection .. yet.
The biggest gotcha I cam across was the location of the "S*ftC*m.key" file, this is case sensitve and needs to be in a hidden folder called ".kaffeine" in your home folder.

If you could let me know what versions of Kaffeine and SC you are running I might be able to help more, but I am by no means an expert at this.
I'm currently running Kaffeine vers 8.6 and SC 0.4.1-SVN dont think these are the latest but it works well enough.

Thanks Kelv

Now got the keys showing, but when I select an encrypted channel, I get no ECM information and hence nothing with regards to viewing the channel.

I don't have Gbox or CCCam installed. Is this required for local viewing?

Am I missing something?

BTW I am very new to Linux

I've been using a Satelco EasyWatch DVB-C card and sasc-ng softcam with MythTV for a year or so. More luck than judgement in getting it working. Happy to help out anyone I can. sasc-ng was oddly unaffected by last April's keyroll episode but it seems to have fallen victim this time. Looks like it will need updated ROMs.
