tuning parameters corrupt

set frequency,netid using libby and got the ird and bk with pnpledsimm on 1000phaseb,right box for tw and thats the error i get:
tuning parameters corrupt in the status box.

it just sits at black screen with 1 green light.

i saw a post about this when i used google but,the person who posted it (it was actualy here on techwatch) got it going by messing round with netid or something.i have tried resetting the netid but,the error stll persists.

someone said in the same thread i found that it might be the tuning unit.thing is i dont have a spare one knocking round so i cant check that.

any other suggestions?

souns like a tuner problem ..but it also says that when tb is cut, is your net id and frq correct

Go into engineers menu scroll through the pages until you get the snr levels etc, up the top there you can alter the frequency upon altering this you should then see if you get a decent snr as the bars will go green,
Are you sure your on the right netid for your area? and also the correct ds freq?

i set the frequency to 539.000 for bradford and netid to 40691 which is correct for bradford.it is a pace1000 phaseb which is correct for tw.got the ird and bk with pnpledsimm.

i will check the snr levels later on and get back.

all i know is,when i opened this box there was a wire running from the battery to one of the amtel chips anmd i actualy cut it off,no damage was done top the chips leg as i know it is not necessary to have it.

i could reset with the jumper and the tuner already had the talkback cut.

it is an ntl box but,i have had ntl ones before and they updated no probs.

this seems to sit at the black screen and 1 light is on the display.

will check the snr levels and see if they are strong.

i checked and this is what i am getting.

dvb demod status okay,all the bars are green solid.

mcns downstream.
1 bar alterates between red and green status okay.but,mainly stays red.the other bar underneath is constant red.

so does that rule out the tuner?

it is late at night now so i will reprogramme the card and try it again tomorrow.but,yes all the settings are correct,frequency and netid for my area.

the wire you cut was from the battery to pin 11 off the atmel, this is the no update mod on a 1ooob .........you will also find that if you get a magnifiying glass pin 11 will be lifted off the pad, try to recoonect the wire or resit the pin on the pad should fix problem

If you resit the pin it should take the update as spike said but ensure that you insulate the other end from the battery so it dont short out,as spike said the pin is probably lifted of the pad hence no update.
If you recconect the wire and the pad the box will not update so only reseat the pad / pin.
From what you say it rules out the tuner by the look of it,
Do the above first then try a forced update on it,

probably just a bit of messy solder but,i got magnifying glass and looked at pin11 and removed what was left of the wire where it had attached to the pin.tried resitting the pin but,not to successful as the display shows like 8888's.does not look like there is any damage.probably some solder got messy so i will try again later and get my head round it.

8888 is showing basically there is a fault ie one of the atmels is problematic so reflowing the atnel leg and make sure its not shorting out and it should be ok

i got rid of the error but,now i am back to what i had before.now when i look through magnifying glass the pin does not look like its lifted at all so should i have to do the wire as it was when i got it.

like an idiot i opened the box to cut talkback and did not know what this wire was doing,so i just cut it off.

if i reconnect another wire will that allow me to update the box as it is an ntell one and i want it to work in tw and it is compatable with tw as it is 1000phaseb.

will i have to lift pin11 and attach the wire to the pad?

like i say the pin and pad looks fine,everything is as it should be but,still getting the same prob as before.

If you reconnect the wire then it wont update,that is the no update mod.
There must a pin on the atmel thats been pulled hence it not updating,with the wire in plae from the atmel to the battery this stops it updating,if you force an update what do you get>? (Hold power button down whilst switching box on at mains wait for okey to appear then press 4321 on the display (the 4 buttons to the right of the lcd start at bottom and work up) see what it does,
