Hi All,
Finally got my 1mtr dish with motor and technomate 5400 receiver. Will start the install over the next few weeks. I bought the stuff from southernsatellite as a package. My Question is - The Dish mount that comes with it! Its a Single pole that you screw to the wall and 2 thin poles to balance it at either side (I assume). I was wondering if these are good enough for the 1mtr dish and motor system. I seen a tutorial on youtube and the guy uses K brackets (i think thats what they were called) These looked easy to install and i'm getting the feeling the one I have are going to be a pain to get straight/aligned/ Am i being mental ![]() Appreciate any comments. p.s. (i'm sure this is gonna be the one of many as I go to install) Cheers Joe. |

Yes, most people use a pair of T&K brackets and a strong 2 inch diameter pole.
Can you post a picture of what you have? Robbo ![]() |

Yes, what you have there, would probably be strong enough but be a right bu99er to get vertical, I had something very similar.
I have never bought the brackets as I have my pole in the ground but this place sells them:- http://www.tlc-direct.co.uk/ Oh, and here too:- http://www.jwhardy.co.uk/shop/pages/..._brackets.html You can get a decent bit of pole from a local scaffolders, about £1/foot. Robbo ![]()

They look like they will do the job don't they.
![]() Yes, the 18 inch ones will ensure that the dish has plenty of space to move and does not crash into the wall. When the dish is at 45 degrees it will jut back by approx 35cm. |

Yeah. whats significant about 45 degrees west. Is that as far as it needs to go? My back wall where I plan to put it faces East. Is that going to be a problem picking up some sats ?

45 degrees either way East or West is more or less as far as you need to go for anything useful.
If the wall faces east exactly, you won't be able to go past what ever you due south is. What is your longitude? Useful sats west are 1W,5W,7W,8W,12.5W,15W and 30W. Although mainly 1W,7W,12.5W and 15W. East wise, you would still have a great deal of choice. You may be able to get 1W it depends on your longitude. For example if your longitude was 5W, when pointing to 1W, your dish would be pointting 4 degrees east of your due south. and if that confuses you, don't worry, you'll understand when you come to set the thing up. ![]() ![]() Robbo. |
