Default Force 20meg

Hi guys, I'm in the process of tweaking my subbed modem and I have read in detail in the haynes manual about forcing 20meg. I already subscribe to broadband, but at 2meg speed only, so can I force 20meg with my own MAC address, or is it highly recommended that I use a neighbouring MAC address for security reasons obviously?

TIA

Your trying to force your ownsubbed modem??
Are you stark raving mad???
Itsh highly recommended you dont touch that modem !!
You DO NOT EVER TOUCH SUBBED GEAR thats the first rule in all this,if you mod your modem in anyway and force it/clone another mac it will show up on there system that your paying for 2meg and getting 20,its a sure fire way to draw serious attention to yourslef,Get another modem and clone that.

Hi, thanks for the reply, I think I worded with the wrong terms in my original post. I have a cloned modem running Sigma software and was planning to use the force 20meg method to get the extra speed. I take it it's not a good idea to use my own MAC address for this method of 20meg then right?

No dont use your own mac to force the config, also depending where you are in the land a lot of areas you cant force macs any longer ,you would need a true 20meg mac to get the full speed,
ideally you need to scan some macs from your end then swap them out with others on a different ubr section to yourself,

go out with the laptop to a cabled area on the other side of town, connect to someones wireless (obv dont try bt ones, heh) and go to 192.168.100.1, enter root and root and write down that mac. use that at your house and force the 20meg config.
