Hello,
I bought a motorised system, 100 cm dish, with and M vision s4 receiver. I haven't been able to scan any channels yet. My latitude is 51.569 longtiude is -3.247 Worked out from postcode CF83 1TJ I am pointing it at ASTRA 2 as i thought i could mimic the sky dishes on my neighbours houses. Anyway, I have the motor arm elevation set at 24 degrees. The dish bracket angle is at 22 ( in comparison to other dishes mine seems to be tilted to a greater degree ). I got my calculation from 30 degrees minus the declination? I am not sure of Azimuth angle. The motor has from 70 degrees west to 70 degrees east ( i think ) so where would 145 degrees be in that sense? My m vision scanner says i have 65 as signal strength however It never finds a channel from a search, tv or radio. From reading all of this does something jump out at you that i am doing wrong. I am a novice so go easy on me. Thanks in advance greg |

Hi,
Have a read of this guide, as what you have done so far does not sound entirely correct. ![]() How to install a DiSEqC motor the right way The best way to setup a motorised system is to send the dish to your nearest due south satellite using USALS and then adjust the dish elevation and the position of the motor around the pole for max signal quality. The elevation setting on the motor needs to be set to 90-latitude or latitude if it is marked so. Your nearest due south is 5W. Robbo ![]() |

Motor should be set to 51-52 latitude or 38-39 elevation, depending upon the scale marked on the motor.
Dish angle seems ok, might need to nudge slightly up or down to optimise. 145 degrees is the same as 35 degrees east of due south in azimuth. Zero degrees on a compas is North, 90 degrees is due east. 180 degrees is due south and 270 degrees is due west. BH

Thanks for the responses guys, I haven't had a chance to get up on the ladder again, but i will . I did read the guide and I think i should read it again and again for it to sink in. I've gotten hold of a signal meter and will try again with that. I will check agian the motor elevation and dish bracket and will drive the motor to 5w.
I'll let you know how i get on. Thanks again Greg |
