Could be a problem on the cable companies side mate. I've been having the same problem on my subbed box the last couple of days

definatley signal issue, can be sorted most of the time using a signal booster

you could try the slx1 from asda, but i recommend you get an engineer to boost you from the box, will cost you around £25, if you are subscribed to the basic tv package (i strongly recommend this) then give them a call coplaining that your picture keeps breaking up, but remember thats only if you are subbed to basic package.
