Heard on the today programme, the official launch is 11.00a.m. this morning, big talk about its FTA forever and the oppo if you can not
get freeview(Sky&Virgin) will cost you a sub. Spokeman quoted we launch with 80 channels of tv & radio today, but by year end there will be 200 channels, no brakedown given. Also spokeman said the launch will have two HD FTA, more to follow Bob

must call into Currys, to see the stand and infos, can not get to Tesco today where I also saw a stand going in two weeks or so ago. Bob |

The Website does say that ITVHD is exclusive to Freesat and still no Sky News or other FTA, none EPG channels available.
With all the complaints about Sky being too restrictive, I can't believe that Freesat/ITV are even more restrictive.

Well Sky News has perhaps decided not to go on freesat, who knows.
as for restrictive, ITV HD, its up to them, all I can say is,freesat recievers are not true FTA if they can decode ITVHD. I suppose those of us who will never sub on principle should be happy now that Murdoch has some opposition. Also RTE will be on freesat next year with their greek offering, another bypass of Sky. Good luck to freesat. Bob Last edited by merlodlliw; 06-05-08 at 04:21 PM. Reason: anybody seen the channel guide yet,if so where is it,thanks |

Sky got a slagging off for supplying boxes with crippled firmware that could only receive a few non-Sky EPG channels and it's a difficult process. They also got a slagging off for only making their service available through their proprietary box and not through a "Proper" satellite receiver. Isn't that exactly what Freesat have done?
