Default Sky HD question

Hi, after reading another forum somebody wrote that they had Sky+, brought a HD box of egay, replaced the Sky + box, and they could get all the channels they had before, as well as the recording facilities, but also could now get BBC HD and 4 HD for free

Can anybody tell me if this is correct or not, because I was always under the impression that you had to pay the £10 a month to receive any of the HD channels

Regards
Alex

You are quite right mate and to get the HD from Sly they would have needed to take out another contract from Sly, this would have tied them to Sly for another year. They would have had to get the box and their card paired and pay the £10 for the privilege of getting the HD channels.

As for BBC and Ch4 HD, I would not like to say, because they might well have gone FTA, yesterday with the launch of FreeSat, but I would expect that Sly would not like to have them free on their dodgyboxes, perhaps someone with Sly HD will be bale to say.

Very best regards Wez

I'm pretty sure that BBC HD is FTA, so should be viewable on any HD capable receiver without payment. Ch4 HD is still NDS I believe so needs NDS UK capable CAS.

I think there is also a channel called Luxe TV also in HD Free to air, again any FTA HD sat receiver should get it.

BBC HD is fta. C4 HD is ftv, and will work with any active sky card (subs or ftv). You do not need to pay the tenner a month for these.

Also Luxe HD is FTA/FTV, you can get this as well without paying the extra £10 - the tenner is just for the HD subscription channels, FTA/FTV will always be free
