German horse racing channel to launch

BeTVision, a new German horse race betting channel, is preparing to launch on May 15.

The channel will transmit live horse racing events from racetracks in Germany and the USA for currently 150 connected professional betting offices across Germany on Eutelsat’s Eurobird 9 satellite at 9° East, using the frequency 11.747 GHz H (SR 27,500, FEC 3/4). The signal will be encrypted in BISS with test transmissions having already commenced. To receive the channel, a special receiver is necessary for which interested subscribers can apply directly to BeTVision.

The channel, which plans to expand to further European countries, operates its own uplink station in Munich via which the signal is sent to Eurobird 9. German technology company Internetagentur Schott, which has developed the complete technical solution and oversees service performance, acts as the technical service provider.
