I have to ask, how well do these downloads work?, I am not by any means
a competant follower of downloads, and have in the past been disappointed by terrestrial downloads for sony 711.

I welcome any advices.

When you say no outer box, did it just arrive in the makers box with the name on box(what is inside) and sealed.

It is a pity, but this is now common practice,if you signed as delivered in good condition etc, then problems, I always write in recieved unchecked, but notice box damaged. Never ever sign recieved in good condition,if you dont open the box in front of the driver. I learned the hard way.(or SWMBO did)

Some of the good traders will change without quibble, some wont, the problem here is Argos claiming against the carrier and you are,as they say
pig in the middle catchment area.

the good news was that the receiver was in A1 condition. set up and working ok in 5 minutes. no sighn of damage at all.

Yes i do normally check the deliveries on arrival but was at work when it arrived and wife sighned for it. Luckily the box is fine. I have however noticed some of the faults that have been raised on other threads but am hoping that updates take care of these. the faults are minor and overall i am very pleased with the receiver.

Never had a Humax before, but look forward to the future and am eager to check out the pvr when it is released

Make I take this oppotunity to say Well Done Bob Cat and his team. A very Nice piece of Kit

That is the foxsat which i already have it has a blanked off ci slot as the case was taken for another unit,

You are getting mixed up kerrywez when i talk about cam slot i am on about there might be a cam slot on the NEW humax PVR which is due on in a few months

I hope that you can see them OK, as they are not the best or clearest, but better than nothing.

Very best regards Wez

If a OTA download is broadcasting when the box is it standby it will automatically update, You can also select automatic and manual update in the menu

Yes but that is the foxsat not the humax pvr we are talking about the freeesat humax pvr will look nothing like the foxsat,

The reson why there is a flap and no card are ci slot on the foxsat is that the case is a universal mold which humax use for a lot of its receivers

It has a blanking plate,at present, but has faint lines giving the impression of two CAM slots and one card slot.
The left hand buttons are also located behind a front flip panel.

I must have bad experiences with my sony 711, as do a thousand others
it should have been sold by iceland, freezes all the time, downloads
supposed to sort it out, but never do, or the box is unable to read the downloads in auto mode. as some else is on this thread a month later
I have cured the Sony freezing, it was recording off the epg, I now use
the manual record(put times in) since not using the epg,no freeze.
I also understand that there is a command on the epg somewhere, that
makes the sony freeze. And I have switched the updates off, never got any from Sony anyway.
