I moved into a house in Dundee, Scotland with an existing zone 2 Sky dish on the wall. I have an FTA receiver so I was wondeing if I can just realign the minidish to Astra 19e and receive the FTA channels?
The sky dish is the oval type and is around 70cm wide, but narrower in height, with the standard Grundig LNB. I only want to use Astra 19e and don't have any plans for multisatellite. Do I need to upgrade the dish and/or LNB or can I get away with just realigning it? Thanks for your help! |

I would have thought you would be able to get Astra 19E OK with a zone 2 dish.
I have used a zone 1 near London and got the sat OK, but lost it when it rained hard. I imagine the same situation would arise with a zone 2 in your location. Give it a try ![]() You just need to swivel the dish approx 10 degrees to the right from behind and up a touch, you can use the receiver's signal quality meter for doing the alignment. Robbo ![]() |

Hi mate, welcome to techwatch, hope you have a good time here and learn loads.
I had a zone 2 dish here and used it to get Hotbird on a FTA box, I am well West from you so I would imagine that you should have no trouble getting Astra 1 with your dish. Good luck with it and if you have bother then just ask. Very best regards Wez

I have used a zone 1 dish for Astra 1 in the Midlands and had no problems with 19.2e even in heavy rain. A zone 2 dish should be more than adequete for 19.2e in your location
