Default Power loss to boiler

I have had a problem with my Worcester 24i boiler for a few weeks where sometimes the heating comes on and sometimes it doesnt although when it didnt come on, you could hear it firing up like it had come on. There was also a problem with the hot water. Sometimes it would be hot and sometimes it wouldnt.

To get either the hot water or heating to come on I would have to switch the mains swith on and off and torn the dial a few times.

Now I cant get either to work. The fuse light is on but the power light on the boiler is off. Its as if the boiler is completely dead.

Is there anything that I can do or does it look like something has blown?

If the power light on the boiler is off there is no power getting to the boiler. Either the switch or dial you're turning on and off is at fault.

Hi mate it could well be that your PCB is on the way out, as it seem to be an intermittent fault and that I would associate with the PCB, hope it is not, but seems like it to me.

Very best regards Wez

Is this something I could fix myself or am I best getting someone out to fix it? If so, roughly how much am I looking at to get this fixed?

I look the PCB out tonight and descovered that one of the fuses had blown. After replacing the fuse, the power light now comes back on. The hot water is working again but the heating is not.

Any ideas?

The boiler must be working OK then, maybe the system need to be bled down, that means there might be air in the system, I have a mate a plumber and I should see him tomorrow and if I do I shall ask him and let you know. I am very glad that you have hot water anyway and it is not that cold these days so maybe you could with till I have seen Chris and asked him what he thinks.

Very best regards Wez

Did you check to see if there is another fuse on the PCB board?? some PCB boards have two fuses on them. theyre located either one aat the right hand side n one at the left hand side.

Hi mate,
I have seen my mate the plumber and he thinks that you problems might well stem from the motorised valve. He said that if the fuses keep blowing that will most likely be the problem. If it is the problem he said to change the motorised valve, it has two wires going to it, it is not that expensive for the valve he said and that is the cheapest way out, if the fuses keep blowing.

Very best regards Wez
