Default new box

Just a quick one,

just got a new tompson sky+ from sky. I am worried about the inputs

Strngth is 90%
Q is 80%

Strngth is 90%
Q is 70%-80%

when i use sky plus. i notice No2 drops to Q of 60%-70% is this normal. Is there going to be problems in bad weather with these readings?

any ideas or suggestions, please many thanks

Hi I did have the same box and that is the way they seem to work, I should think that like I did you will have a bit of bother with it in the rain.

I am not privy to who installed the dish/LNB for you, but the extra weight on the LNB support arm drags the whole lot down and that is why you signal is not as good as it could be, I would suggest that you tilt the dish back a wee bit and chaeck the signal again.

Very best regards Wez

out of interest, are you sure its not a refurb and not new, Sky are experts at the recycle, I know of some Sky products peddled as new, but in fact are are 3 or 4th refurbs.
Did the box and package arrive unopened, was the package stating what was inside like going to Cur/com etc, if it was a blank package, beware.
For whatever reason, I always refuse the goods if the box as been opened
even though the seller says, opened to check, also Com/Cur try this on,if the goods are delivered from a warehouse in place of you collecting it from the shop, however small indes are more honest, but a dying breed I am sorry to say, In Wrexham pop 130K, third largest town in Wales, we only have one remaining indie, TE Roberts, who are finding it hard going.

my opinion Bob

I wouldn't worry too much about those figures. The proof of the pudding is in the eating, I mean the picture.

Usually anything above about 60% will give a good picture and every receiver will show a diiferent figure for snr and agc.

The signal indicators for the 1st input are based on the default transponder, the 2nd one is based on whichever transponder was used to supply the signal for the last recording.(That is what I read elsewhere anyway)

Just wait to we get some heavy rain, and see what happens, if you lose picture/get breakup start worrying about it then.

Not long to go, the rainy season starts June through to August.
