Default Motor angle?

Hi still getting to know my technomate 1500ci+ getting thor, astra and hotbird ,but when i try to the east and west of these my signal strength drops, i set it up initialy on thor for what i thought was my stongest signal. Using old diseq motor seems to work ok, could it be the elevation of my motor?my pole is vertical . any ideas? thanks...

It could be one of three things, the elevation of the motor, the elevation of the dish, or the position of the motor around the pole.

Check the motor elevation, this is easy. Is it set according to your latitude?

The next thing to do is to ensure that you are centred on the satellite. Select Thor, then monitor the signal quality and ensure that the same movement with the motor in both directions causes the signal quality to fall to the same ammount.

Do a similar thing with the dish elevation. if that doesn't fix it, there is more to try, but for now try the above.

Theres an arc tuning guide around here somewhere, I'll see if I can find it. It is all about getting the steepness and the position of your arc correct.

The declination (dish elevation) detremines the arc steepness, the motor elevation the vertical position, and the horizontal position is detremined by the position of the motor aroud the pole.
