Im a DJ and pretty much a vinyl purist.

With recent knew that i had to go digital at some stage.

mananged to obtain a 'Serato Scratch Live' unit, which uses 2 Vinyl and a Analogue/Digital convertor, meaning i can play digital music via vinyls.

Playing mainly 90-93 Acid/Jungle/Oldskool hardcore etc i got quite a collection of vinyl and hate gigging with it incase any of my vinyls get damaged/go astray!! some of them being worth a good few quid and pretty much un-replacable.

Now ive ripped pretty much most of my vinyl to mp3 so i dont have play it to often and therefore keeping its quality and value whilst still being able to play it via Serato.

i still buy vinyl to play out but i usually end up ripping it to mp3 and then adding my vinyl to crates for safe keeping.

Even through all the digital age DJ's still want vinyl and doubt it will ever die.
Sales are not as good as they used to be due to the digital format and the ease getting tunes instantly via places like iToons

But for the older generation of club/dance/warehouse DJ vinyl or a emulation of it like Serato will always be with us for as long as music is with us.

If anyone is into their oldskool hardcore/jungle/acid/techno etc then i play live on a web radio station every monday evenings 5pm-7pm.
not sure on the score of leaving outside links so wont post any unless im allowed to or if indeed anyone is even interested.

Long live the vinyl.....

Definitely CD for me, especially dts 5.1 format.

Anyway I am getting too old to keep jumping up and winding up the gramophone spring every couple of minutes and its so hard to find those sapphire needles these days.

Adjusting the pillow in the horn to get the volume right can be a pain in the arse too.

Vinyl is the best for scratching with out a shout of a doubt.

But we must embrass the new digital reign the Pioneers are start of the art and we can forget about scratched records in the future all our media will be backed up on harddrives and usb discs.

If you run a record lable your laughing cause you won't feel the cost to print your music on hardback (Vinyl) it will be quite strait foward if you think about it. Still tho we love Vinyl and we love our 1210's but it's time to move on.

Of course my friend!

Vinyl IS ANALOGUE and there isnt anything better than ANALOGUE AUDIO!!

Nothing Digital will ever come close to the good PURE sound of Analog!!
