From my point of view, vinyl is a mixed bag. But, yes, at its best, I would tend to agree that it is indeed the best format for music. The trouble is, it isn't always at its best.

The way I see it, the CD brought (fairly) good quality sound into most people's houses, vinyl brought (and still brings) *better* quality sound into *some* people's houses (and none-too-impressive sound into *many* people's houses).

Oh, by the way, DVD-Audio is quite good.

Or if you don't want to record to computer, you could buy a CD recorder (like a CD player but also records unto CDs) and make CDs; you can obviously rip the CDs to computers and/or convert them to MP3s etc.

a half decent CD recorder costs the earth, so unless he has money to burn i wouldnt bother. Hi-Fi turntables use crappy needles & will scratch your records, so unless you dont care about your vinyl dont use one. my mate paid £300 for a CD recorder & he can only use certain CDr's which cost £10 each, honestly dont bother mate.

the best way i found to rip your vinyls to disc is straight into your pc on a programe such as cool edit or sound forge. . . . .i DJ so lucky for me I have the industry standard Technics 1210's. Your right in what your saying about cheap turntables messing up your vinyls I wouldnt use them!!!

I'd never sell my records, even though got hundreds would never play, some are worth a fortune some are worthless, but all are priceless to me. And there still my main tools of the trade in the clubs, the majority of which are naughty raves . . . . . .but I must confess allthough I thought I never would, I have moved onto Pioneer CDJ's for playing lots of promo's and unreleased stuff, some of the stuff you can do with them is amazing, takes your dj'ing to a new level....seems to be the way forward!

Raindancerob - the old hardcore and happy hardcore stuff, are we talking 94-97'ish stuff? Evolution rec's and that type of thing
