Default Re: Null Cable Eurovox 2006. Urgent help Please

Hi

I think the last post makes me think on what cable do I need

Ive checked ebay and the one which I purchased was a 15m Null modem cable Db9 female - Db9 female cable.

Do I need a Null Cable Modem or should I purchase a rs232 cable. I thought both were there same until I read the link above.

If I have the wrong lead, can some please please send me a link to which one I shdould buy.

Please advise if I have the right cable

I have a new PC with Vista running and I do have the DB9 port on my motherboard. So I can connect the Null cable modem directly to the DB9 port and then the other port to the box with out the USB.

I have purchased the USB to serial, just incase and that didnt work either.

Hi

Just noticed something which might be the problem

I purchased a Null Cable modem. Upon further homework I discovered the cable to be a straight which means its a RS232 cable

A Null cable is usualy reverse.

Am I correct??

If so will I need to buy a null cable which is reverse.

Im sure its just a 9pin to 9pin Null Cable wire you need

Are you not getting confused with a Ethernet CrossOver cable, these need to be reversed.

Yes, you definitely need to buy an rs232 NULL MODEM cable and not an rs232 standard serial cable

The Null-Modem cable usually has a Female connector on both ends

I cant believe you've gone through all this.
When you bought the USB to rs232 converter, did you make sure it was compatible with null modem cables?
Are you using a null modem cable?
Is everything wired up correctly?
IS the box powered on whilst connected?
If the answer to all these is yes, then you need to install some drivers.
You should have got a CD with your USB to rs232 converter, insert that in.
It will ask you to install drivers, install them.
Restart your pc, and then it should work now.
If you didnt get a cd with your USB to rs232, go back to the shop you bought it from and tell them
