Hi,
Apologies for the long email ![]() I'm having major problems in connecting the box to my PC. I ordered a USB to serial cable as well as ordering a null cable modem. Connected the null cable modem to my PC which is running Vista. I had the serial port (DB9) on my motherboard. When I try to connect it to the box I keep getting the message "Waiting response from Receiver". I tried every method I could thing off, i.e. powered off the box, clicked on download and then OK, put the power cord back it same error message. Left the box running again tried to connect and got the same error message. I then tried it with the USB cable and connected the null cable modem to it, once again got the same error message. When I connected the USB cable it did prompt for me to install some drivers which I did by using the CD which came with it. When I go under system -> Hardware devices I see the drivers under Portable Devices but doest give me any com port number. I have also tried to change the com port number when I click on Download and then start on UFL. Finally I tried the USB cable on the laptop which is running XP. This time when I plug the USB serial cable in, it doesn't prompt for any drivers or recognises it. USB definitely works on the laptop, even rebuilt the laptop, still noting. Noticed on one of the posts that I should go into the box, menu, language settings and press 1968 and make sure everything is enabled…..still nothing Would appreciate any help, could the cable be faulty or dead? ![]() |

Hi
Ive tried that. On the UFL ( I think thats what its called) I click on download, then start, it gives me the options for the Com Ports. Tried all of them. The other ports I get a error message something like port already taken. Ive tried all techniques, mainly been using com port 1. Also went into system, devices, hardware manager and played around with the bit rate, pushed it up to 115200. At the moment I put it down to 9600 as one of the websites suggested. Not looking good.........not sure what I could be missing

I would love to connect the box via ethernet
Unfortunatley the Eurovox is can only be connected via a Null cable modem. Its a brand new cable which I purchased from ebay and was delivered to me yesterday. Im thinking the same thing, may be the cable could be buggered. Ive tried both the USB and Null........both the same thing. I thought it was an easy process of 1,2,3. Guess not for me hey

Start / Control Panel / Administrative Tools / Computer Management / Device Manager On the right hand side of screen, double click on Ports (COM & LPT). You should see your serial port listed now. Double click on the Serial Port and under the General Tab make sure the device is set to enabled. Next, under the Settings Tab, click on the Advanced button and set to COM3. Save and apply your changes. Now try again, using the NULL MODEM cable connected to your Serial Port

Hi
I have double double checked the com port to make sure it is enabled. It does say this device is enabled and working properly. In windows XP on the Laptop when I connect the USB to Serial am I suppose to get the driver installation at that stage pop up or do I get it when I connect the null cable modem to it which connects to the box. Im not getting any installation pop ups for the laptop.

I could never get the serial to USB adapter to work on my desktop and ended up buying a PCI serial port card (but you already have one).
Are you certain yours is a NULL MODEM cable as opposed to a standard rs232 serial cable? Perhaps you someone on this thread could help you Update cable

have you not got a RS232 socket on your PC(I take it you are connecting the RS232 socket on the Eurovox to the USB on the PC),I think that its mostly older PC's that have them.I had to use an old PC I fortunately still have to connect my DREAMBOX CLone to my PC.
